DIY art class for home! This book starts right from the bottom. It works with the idea that most of us start with a cheap No.2 pencil and some copy paper. Then goes into more detail on recommenced items to look forward to as you progress. Most books you don't want to actually read everything word for word. However its hard not to in this one because so many parts will catch your eye and you'll find yourself WANTING to get more information on how to do something. There is something in here for anyone that is working on certain aspects of a quick how to sketch. What I felt was most valued in this is that it is very encouraging. Like in an art class you have an instructor there to guide and push you to show your work, move forward, take information, and do better. Most art books are so instructional it is not very personable to those small minds that need that extra encouragement. I'm actually an avid mangaka and comic artist for years. I got this book because the author's youtube channel was so good and she has a way of making you understand that everyone needs a little help. I plan on giving this book to my niece who has shown interest in my comic book work and painting.
This book is well put together and I highly recommend it.The instructions are easy to understand and is packed with useful little tips for improving your manga drawings. The pages are filled with step-by-step illustrations to help beginners follow along with the instructions. You never get lost between steps and the chapters/content is well organized to help with your progression.Aside from demonstrating the basics on how to draw manga characters (normal sized and chibi), the book covers a variety of topics such as- creating hair styles- drawing clothing details properly- mapping facial expressions correctly- manga inking and shading techniques- idea generation for interesting and unique characters- creating polished pictures- creating well constructed manga pages with multiple panelsI'm satisfied with my purchase. ^_^
I bought this book for my daughter and she wanted to leave a review:I discovered Misti through her Youtube channel and got her book because I love her tips--I wasn't disappointed! This book has some great stuff inside: it explains what manga is, what supplies you will need to draw it, and how to use the supplies, as well as the ones you should ditch; it has tips for getting more out of your supplies, how to get over being afraid of drawing, and what to do if you mess up. It teaches you how to draw male and female eyes, as well as male and female heads at different angles, drawing chibis, aging your character, a section on drawing girls' and guys' proportions, a bunch of different nose, ear, and mouth shapes, and where to place them on the face. It also shows different hair styles, how to draw hair, where clothing usually folds, techniques for drawing folds, a section on hands and feet, as well as emotions and accessories for your character. There is also a unique game on how to create your own characters. My favorite section was on inking, shading, and toning your pictures. She also has some cools tips on watercoloring your manga, cross-hatching, and how to set up your own manga panels. Overall, I highly recommend this book for anyone starting out in drawing manga, and looking to get better!
I don't have a lot of experience with how to draw manga books but this one is exactly what I was hoping for! I think it's worth the money just for the art if you like chibis and manga. Cute drawings on every page. The fire athlete is so hot! The instructions are easy to follow, lots of step by step and I didn't get lost once, and everything was so much fun, I really wish I could go get in person lessons now. I follow Mistiqarts on YouTube which is why I pre-ordered it and then it arrived a full month before it said it would ship. I was really surprised by how big the book is, it says it's only 128 pages but there are a LOT of lessons and they're all really big and easy to see, not like the little pocket drawing guides you see a lot. Super excited so far and I can't wait to draw something else.
It's very easy to understand and simple to follow. Unlike most "How to Draw Manga" books I've read so far, this one is doesn't give you complex instructions that would rack your brain. By far, this is the best How-to Draw Manga Book I've read. I would completely recommend those who look forward to learning how to draw manga, Beginning or experienced, this book. What I've posted here is one of the sketches I've made by following the instructions of the book. This was one of my favorite full body Manga sketches.I can guarantee you that I enjoy this book. It's been very helpful, and I think this would be fit for beginners, and even experienced.
My son has already started coming up with some amazing drawings from what he's learned in this book. He's usually focused primarily on gaming but we thought this form of art might get him off the tv a little and it has. Nice to see him doing something creative like this. The pictures included and tutorials are on the money for my 13year old so 5 stars from me on this.
Super instructional, and easy to read. All methods are laid out so you can easy to grasp. One of my favorite features of this book is that if for some reason you get stuck and not sure what to draw. there is an activity that can help you get out of your rut. Worth every penny.
This book is wonderful! The lessons are easy step by step instructions ,which are not confusing to follow. I love everything about the book, I just would of loves to see more about clothing. But something I completely appreciate from the lessons, was the step-by-step process on drawing different angles of the manga face, which is something I always look for in a How to Draw book, The game is very interesting, and it can be used when you are having an art block. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to draw manga. :)
